Rees - Owen
In a candlelight ceremony in Nazareth Presbyterian church, Columbus, on May 23, Mis Bella Rees, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Owen Rees, Fountain Prairie, became the bride of Merlin Owen, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Milton Owen, Cambria. Tall lighted tapers, palms and spring flowers decorated the altar and the Rev. E. Edwin Jones, Columbus officiated.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a white satin gown and her fingertip veil was fastened to a coronet of tiny seed pearls. A locket belonging to her mother and brought from Wales, Great Britain in 1899 was her only jewelry. She carried a bouquet of pink tea roses, lilies of the valley, narcissus and delphinium.
Mis Mary Rees, sister of the bride, was her only attendant. Lily and Phylils Ryser were flower girls and little Margaret Elizabeth Hughes was the ring bearer.
Louis Owen, brother of the bride-groom, was the best man, and William Jones and Gifford Cook were ushers.
Following a short wedding trip the young couple will be at home at the Owen farm.

Obituary
Marjorie Mae Oviatt
October 2, 1924-January 2, 2009

This life was a blessing to all who knew her. Marjorie was kind to all her friends and family and neighbors. She had an interesting life, being born in Windsor, Wisconsin, finishing high school in 1942 and Normal School in 1944. This is the school that taught teachers how to teach. She taught school for abut three months and went to San Francisco to be married to Owen Rees. They had three daughters and then went their separate ways. Mother was not single for long when she found her new companion, William Oviatt and was married shortly there after. This was a better match because they were married for six months shy of 50 years. During their life together, she was a housewife off and on. They had several businesses together. Being a housewife was her favorite job. She enjoyed fixing meals and being mom and grandma. She was also a lifetime member of the Moose and for many years a Sojourner for the Church Of Christ. After 55 years she got back together with Owen Rees for the last 3 months of her life. She was preceded in death by the love of her life Bill Oviatt; and by her beloved brother, John Craytor and an older brother, Conrad Craytor in 1938. She is survived by her sister Mary Helen Mclaughlin; her three daughters and their husbands, five grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren, and Owen Rees. Many thanks to the Church of Christ and their members and to Erickson & Brown Funeral Home for their help and kindness. There will be a viewing on Friday, January 9, 2009 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. with funeral services on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the Erickson and Brown Funeral Home Chapel.
